Listen to 7-19-18 radio set here
I began this set with a dark atmospheric/ambient track by Massive Attack and Burial, called 'Four Walls'. It is a Burial remix of a never-released song from Massive Attack. The track was finally put out (in a limited selection of vinyl only) along with another Burial remix of Paradise Circus, with album art (pictured) from Robert "3D" Del Naja. Both of these tracks feature vocals and lyrics by Hope Sandoval. I played both of the tracks, which together are over 24 minutes long.
I also featured Thom Yorke in this set. Well known as the singer of Radiohead, he has also released solo albums and performed solo as a DJ, where his electronic and experimental side comes to the fore. Thom Yorke is the anti-hero for a certain generation of us who came of age with Radiohead and followed their experimental phases into wilder territory along with him.
I also played a lot of Daedelus, an LA DJ with a lot of sound. His music is often layered over by some of the best rap lyrics around, but his instrumental solo and collaborative work is amazing. Often groovy, it also tends to veer towards experimental territory.
