Massive Attack played last night in the area, commemorating 20 years since their dark album Mezzanine made a big impression on my generation. Last night, they seemed to make the case that they are a post-punk band. They covered songs from The Cure and Bauhaus. Also, their studio work includes covers of Siouxsie and the Banshees, and in interviews about Mezzanine they often reference Gang of Four (whom their song Group Four seems to salute).
Guest vocalists at the show last night include Liz Fraser (pictured, from Cocteau Twins) and Horace Andy.
