Yessirov stuck around to help The NightOwl swoop in with some darker, more electronic sounds.

Holly Herndon was a highlight.  She pushes the boundaries with a human/artificial intelligence chorus of voices, emphasizing "alien song craft and new forms of communion".

Another highlight was spontaneously placing Tool's "Reflections" just after Kraftwerk's "The Hall of Mirrors".  This is what The NightOwl is all about.

6-12-19 Special Artist Feature: Bjork!

A special 2 hour radio show in homage to Bjork, and her influence on electronic music.

Thousands of remixes have been made by DJ's inspired by her music.  Some can be found at bjorkremixes.comSunday in the Park, and Feisar.  Back in the 1990's, there was a wonderful place for amateur, unofficial remixes at the Bjork Remix Web (arktikos.com).  Unfortunately, it is no longer up, but many fans (like me) downloaded substantial parts of it.  I play a few late in this set.  I would love to find more remixes and more information about the DJ's.  Perhaps this will be an ongoing research project...

This show is part of a fundraising week to support non-commercial, independent radio station WTJU.  If you support non-commercial, community radio, then please consider making a donation.  It's truly a wonderful cultural resource, staffed by volunteers like myself.

Listen here for up to two weeks.

Listen to this one hour radio set here for up to two weeks

I stuck around for an extra hour last week to play more music and to correct something I had said earlier on Merging w/the Night, regarding an influential bassline that appears in Tricky's "Hell is Round the Corner", Portishead's "Glory Box", and Hooverphonic's "Mad About You", among other places.
The bassline originally comes from Wallace Collection's song "Daydream", which was remade by I Monster for a UK hit in the 90's, and which also appears in The Beta Band's "Squares", again among other places.

I also played a live version of Portishead's "Machine Gun" featuring Chuck D rapping his lyrics for "Black Steel", a re-do of which by Tricky I played in the previous show.  Check out the video, too!
